Now that the Scottish Government has begun easing the lockdown restrictions, the Diocese of Motherwell has begun to prepare for a phased reopening. In this first week, St Bernadette’s will be open for private prayer from 12pm to 2pm on Wednesday 24th and Friday 26th of June. At the moment, we do not anticipate that demand will outstrip the space that we have available so there is no need to make an appointment. However, please be aware that you may need to wait to enter if the church is busy.
We have provided some guidance on how the reopening will work and how to keep yourself and others safe here and we would ask that you read it before coming to church.
Further announcements will be made about Church opening times for private prayer in the future. Please note that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still dispensed and Mass will still be conducted by the priests in private until further notice. Please continue to pray at home or watch online masses if you can.
The reopening of the Church is only possible through the work of volunteers, so if you have a spare hour, we would greatly appreciate it if you could volunteer some of your own time. Details on how to volunteer can be found here.
